vidan® wins German Design Award
SCHMITZ u. Söhne’s video colposcope boasts a distinctive style, ergonomics and functionality
Following on from the ‘Red Dot Award 2014’, SCHMITZ u. Söhne’s vidan® video colposcope has now won another major design prize: the ‘German Design Award Special 2016’. This is awarded annually by the prestigious German Design Council in Frankfurt am Main in recognition of products with excellent design.
vidan® is the world’s first video colposcope with full HD and a large monitor. It complements the medi matic® gynaecological examination chairs in an innovative and visually attractive way: the doctor can display the examination directly on the monitor. The high image quality, the strong integrated lighting and up to 30x magnification help him make a precise diagnosis.
Another highlight in a series of awards
“A contemporary product design is becoming increasingly important in medical technology now too. That is why, for a long time, we have sought to combine the function and ergonomics of our products with expressive aesthetics,” says Friedrich Schmitz, managing partner of the family-run SME based in Wickede (Ruhr). “Recognition for the vidan® with the German Design Award has once again confirmed that we’re on the right track – yet another highlight in a series of numerous design prizes for our products.” The international panel of experts of the German Design Award praised in particular the ‘compact combination of function, ergonomics and design’ of the vidan®.
